This is a journal Mio Amakura find in Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. It is located in the Kurosawa house.

DescriptionEdit

The journal of a folk scholar. It describes a great calamity known as the Repentance.

ContentEdit

I am fortunate that the village records as stored at the High Priest's house.

Most of these records concern the village's ancient myths and legends, and the ceremonies that have been performed here since time immemorial.

There are many items that are of great interest to a folk scholar such as myself.

The Hidden Ceremony that takes place in this village is known as the Crimson Sacrifice Festival, and involves using twin shrine maidens to seal the gateway that leads to hell.

The Crimson Sacrifice Festival has two parts: the True Ritual, which must be held regularly, and the Shadow Ritual, which is held if the True Ritual is a failure.

Should both rituals fail, a disaster known as the Repentance occurs. The dead will rise from hell, and the sky itself will be sealed shut.

Munakata says that his childhood friends Itsuki and Mutsuki have disappeared.

I must admit that my interest has been piqued by the thoughts of the twins going missing at a time like this.

We must find them. I feel like they will have much to tell us about the ceremony.
